About Patty & Terry Ames
Patty and Terry Ames are owners of Cake Designers in Central Florida. Cake Designers is a home based business specializing in wedding cakes, doing over 100 cakes a year as a husband/wife team. Patty is the design artist and Terry is the baker/gofer/supporter.
Patty started her cake career as a self taught teenager but later studying under some of the most renown decorators to sharpen her skill set. She taught cake decorating at her house and then taught Wilton Method for 11 years at various stores in Central Florida. During this teaching time, through student referrals, she developed a wedding cake business, going full time 10 years ago.
Terry has a background in aviation that involved developing training software for aviation mechanics and pilots. After retiring six years ago, he was drafted into Patty's business as the baker and all around assistant. During this time, Terry watched the struggles with pricing and business procedures and decided that there had to be a better way of managing their business.
Using knowledge gained during his aviation career, Terry, in collaboration with Patty and other cake decorating business owners, decided to develop software that was affordable and easy to use so that both the average home decorator and the brick and mortar business owner could benefit from. Thus began the development of Cake Shop Manager.
