Chicago area native Michelle Boyd, owner of Good Gracious Cakes, has ALWAYS loved dessert. In 2005, she realized that she could combine her two passions - art and dessert - and she made the switch from graphic designer & illustrator to full-time sugar artist.
Since then, you may have seen her on several television shows on TLC and Food Network, including Duff Til Dawn, Outrageous Wedding Cakes, and Halloween Wars. Michelle’s award-winning cakes have also been featured in Cake Masters Magazine, Sweet, and Cake Wrecks-Sunday Sweets.
Michelle was named one of the Top Ten Cake Artists in North America for 2014 by Dessert Professional magazine.
She teaches classes in various sugar mediums, with an eye toward helping students bring traditional (but not conventional) art techniques to cake, sugar, and chocolate. Michelle also creates elaborate edible showpieces for corporate events and food festivals around the country.
