Cake mechanics is one of the most underrated skills, yet it is extremely important for a cake artist to understand when designing large and/or tall custom cakes and 3-D projects. This is not just about about stacking a wedding cake. This class will give insight into how to select the right materials and tools to make cake support systems that are strong and reliable.
A sturdy cake starts with a solid understanding of cake mechanics. If you’re not spot on with your support systems, it will create a chain reaction and mess up things down the line. Keep in mind that often we have to deliver cakes over bumpy roads and have to make sure they stay in one piece. In this class, you will also learn about different types of piping, hardware, glues, tools and electrical devices for special effects.
